(New York, NY) Filmmaker Sharon Kon is quickly becoming an innovator in the genre known as faith films. “THE FATHER’S LOVE,” Ms. Kon’s first feature-length film, takes its inspiration from her own life as a twenty-something looking for love and adventure in the big Apple.

Born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Ms. Kon graduated with honors from Hunter College of The City University of New York with a B.S. in Film and Video Production. Ms. Kon is a director/producer who is passionate about producing films that have “aesthetic appeal and are thought-provoking, which are ultimately life-changing to each viewer.”

Infusing this “new wave” genre with high production values, real life situations, characters with a complex emotional range and cosmopolitan settings, not to mention quality actors from stage and the small screen, Ms. Kon hopes that she will inspire other faith filmmakers to tell stories that are relatable, well acted and void of clichés.

The Saboteurs

saboteurWhat we meditate on and where we let our mind go will dictate our ability to accomplish our God-given dreams. It is imperative to watch for the saboteurs.

Self-doubt, sabotage from the enemy, words purposely and carelessly slipped out of the mouth of friends and foes, comparisons—subtle or blatant, cautious and responsible self always trying to play it safe and sit on the sidelines…

Our minds, bodies, emotions, and spiritual condition rest on having “the mind of Christ”—see 1 Corinthians 2:16. Our faith, hope, and the ability to move forward is wrapped up in our thoughts—correct?

The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 10:5 says, “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”

And in Proverbs 23:7, “Whatsoever a man thinketh, so he is…”

What do these scriptures mean to you and me as ones launching or working out our dreams?

Everything!

Imagine in one hand holding up the Scripture and in the other a thought—do they pair well? Are the thoughts resting in one hand consistent with what is in the other? If not, do what we do with questionable food in the refrigerator—throw them out!

The instruction and concept of holding every thought captive is one of the most important scriptures in the Bible (in my opinion). I cannot imagine what my brain and my actions would look like if I didn’t really catch on to the intent of this scripture early on.

Allowing one’s mind to wander wherever it starts to go without any boundaries is about as ridiculous and dangerous as letting a puppy loose on the streets of NYC during rush hours.

Keep moving forward, stay positive, and watch out for fear-riddled thoughts, thoughts of calamity, etc. If your thoughts do not reflect true hope, potential, and faith—you know what to do: throw them out!
