I hope you like to take quizzes. The one included in this blog doesn’t take too long but it may reveal a lot. When we understand who were are and what we are made for we can run (and rest) in the our pursuits. As a Jesus follower I have felt a lot of freedom knowing where my strengths are and where they are not. There is nothing worse than trying to be something we are not suited for. I bet we all have stories in those areas. It never feels quite right as we try to make ourselves into something we are not designed to do. We aren’t usually too good at those things either–though we may have some successes.
I am linking a quiz for you to take to identify where you fall in the Five Fold Ministry Gifts.
In the Amplified version of the Bible it says in Ephesians 4 it says:
11 And His gifts were [varied; He Himself appointed and gave men to us] some to be apostles (special messengers [and visionaries]), some prophets (inspired preachers and expounders), some evangelists (preachers of the Gospel, traveling missionaries), some pastors (shepherds of His flock) and teachers.
12 His intention was the perfecting and the full equipping of the saints (His consecrated people), [that they should do] the work of ministering toward building up Christ’s body (the church).
Below is a very quick look, rather superficial, at these giftings. There is so much more that can be added and some things that you may debate, or have a lot to add to; all good–but let’s do think about the following. That is my goal.
The five-fold ministry: Apostles, Pastors, Teachers, Evangelists, and Prophets–every single one needed in the Body of Christ.
Lets think about these ministry/giftings inside and outside of church ministry because they should be used in both worlds.
The following are only little samples to make you think.
A person with an apostle gifting may be an entrepreneur–a visionary.
A pastor gifting may be used in a myriad of ways, such as in social work.
A teacher is one who loves to teach–and loves to learn. They may be a teacher or one who trains in businesses.
An evangelist has to sell what they believe in. They are influencers and they may be found doing a great job selling concepts and products.
A person who leans to the prophetic gifting speaks into people’s lives because of things they “feel” and see down the road–maybe a psychologist, speaker, etc.
The reason I took a stab at how the Five Fold Ministry might play out in the secular world as well as in the body of the believers because we should be encouraged and encourage others into their roles inside as well as outside the Church.
What do you think of your results? Do they seem to match your natural bent and your spiritual yearnings?
